AUSL Brings Professional Softball to Historic Vero Beach
Indian River County welcomed the Athletes Unlimited Softball League to the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in June for the league’s preseason camp and kickoff event. Commissioner Joe Earman and county staff attended the event, met with league leadership, and watched several AUSL teams prepare for the upcoming season.
The AUSL’s selection of Vero Beach builds on Indian River County’s longstanding relationship with professional sports. Formerly known as Dodgertown, the complex served as the Spring Training home of the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers for 60 years and became the first fully integrated Major League Baseball Spring Training site in the South.
Today, the MLB-operated complex is a year-round destination for baseball and softball development. Although the AUSL is not permanently based in Vero Beach, its preseason camp highlighted the County’s continued importance to both sports while supporting tourism, local economic activity, and national exposure.
