SUWANEE, GA, USA, June 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Mom’s Choice Awards® has named MyPhonePouch among the best in family-friendly media, products, and services. The MCA evaluation process uses a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on a number of elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal, and cost.

"We are thrilled to earn the Gold Level Mom’s Choice Awards Honoring Excellence seal of approval,” says
MyPhonePouch Inventor, Founder, Owner, CEO, Allison Santini. “We know all the great things the MCA does to
connect consumers, educators, and caregivers with the best products and services available for families and we are honored for the recognition of MyPhonePouch.”

Evaluators are bound by a strict code of ethics not only to ensure objectivity but also to ensure that the evaluation is free from manufacturer influence. The five evaluations are submitted to the MCA Executive Committee for final review and approval.

"Our aim to introduce families and educators to best-in-class products and services,” explains Dawn Matheson, Executive Director of the Mom’s Choice Awards. “We have a passion to help families grow emotionally, physically and spiritually. Parents and educators know that products and services bearing our seal of approval are high-quality and also a great value. In the event of an emergency situation, MyPhonePouch can be used for self-defense as a striking tool. Patient experience awards

SPRINGFIELD, IL, USA, June 26, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — When looking for a new doctor, one of the first places people typically turn to these days is the Internet. Review sites are making it easier than ever to learn about other people’s patient experiences with doctors. According to the 2018 Executive Summary from Review Trackers, 66.3% of consumers rated reviews as important when choosing a primary care physician (PCP). About 32% of users reported leaving negative reviews about PCP experiences, and around 28% of consumers said they left reviews of positive experiences with their PCPs. (Reviews of specialists were a couple of percentage points lower for both positive and negative scores.)

HealthSoul is an online portal that allows healthcare consumers to share opinions about their experiences with healthcare providers. Historically, they have only provided reviews for hospitals and insurance, but they are in the process of adding physicians. Doctors ratings are currently available in certain cities and countries. It recently revealed its first list of patient experience awards.

These awards are given to physicians, physician practices, hospitals, health insurance and travel health insurance in recognition of outstanding patient and consumer satisfaction. These are awarded based on the average score in a year given by patients based on their healthcare experience. The healthcare entity must have atleast one review to gain an award.

Gold Award indicates Exceptional Patient Experience:
This award is for healthcare professionals who have received 5-star rating from their patients during a particular year

Silver Award indicates Excellent Patient Experience:
This award is for healthcare professionals who have received more than 4-star rating but less than 5-star rating from their patients during a particular year

Bronze Award indicates Good Patient Experience:
This award is for healthcare professionals who have received more than 3-star rating but less than 4-star rating from their patients during a particular year.

To access full list of awards, visit patient experience awards page.
As a patient, your experience always matters. Just as you want to look to other people’s reviews online, other people want to look at yours as well. It’s human nature to let others know about negative experience but be sure to include the positives as well. If you have a doctor or hospital that you like and trust, let others know. As a patient, you have power, use it wisely.

WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA, REALTOR® JASON MERO EARNS HIS REAL ESTATE BROKER’S LICENSE

“The Broker’s License is a Top Tier Designation in Residential Real Estate and it requires over 180 hours of training, which is great because with this knowledge I can better help my clients.”

— Jason Mero

WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA, USA, June 25, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Jason Mero is an awe-inspiring, exemplary and accomplished Real Estate agent at Weichert Realtors® in Woodbridge, Virginia. He is also a retired United States Army Veteran and recently obtained his Broker’s License. He says, “The extra coursework covers topics such as ethics, contracts, taxes, and insurance at a more in-depth level than what’s taught in a real estate agent pre-licensing course. Also, I learned more about real estate legal issues and how the law applies to operating a brokerage, real estate investments, construction, and property management. As a result, I have a more in-depth knowledge of the real estate business which can help me serve my clients with their real estate needs.

Jason was born in Auburn, New York, and was a volunteer Fireman and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at age 17, before graduating from Auburn High School. He also joined the National Guard while still in high school and then became Active-Duty in the Army in 1994.

Jason went to Fort Benning in Georgia for basic training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) his first Active-Duty Station was at Fort Knox, where he was assigned to the only deployable Infantry Brigades. He transferred to Korea and stationed at Camp Greaves. He says, “We supported the Demilitarized Zones (DMZ), joint security activities and the UN forces. We were the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), capable of rapid response to developing situations and had equipment ready to respond to any type of emergency.”

Jason then transferred to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama to attend the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) school and was selected as a Bomb Specialist.

Jason then changed Duty Stations to Tooele Army Depot in Utah before deploying to Kosovo. “We supported NATO forces there supporting the Counter Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) mission.” He states, “We investigated and gathered evidence from house bombings and turned it over to the NATO forces.” He then returned to Fort Irwin to clear, then relocated to Fort Drum in New York.

While at Fort Drum, Jason supported the local law enforcement in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont. He also worked with the Secret Service and the United States Department, protecting foreign Dignitaries, the President of the United States, The Vice President and their families, including the First Ladies. This involved searches for hazardous device in hotel rooms, travel routes, restaurants and anywhere else the officials would have to go.

Jason then deployed to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, came back to the U.S. briefly, and was redeployed to Iraq in 2003. “In Kuwait, we supported the Military forces going into Afghanistan, with all of their shipments going through clearances. We conducted training operations and secured the Naval piers, making sure there were no hazardous devices there. We cleared the routes for the Military convoys moving to and from different points. We also cleared areas for additional camps to be built to assist with the creation of Forward Operating Bases.”

Jason then rotated back to Fort Drum and trained for additional overseas missions. He then deployed back to Kuwait to go into Iraq to support the 101st Division out of Fort Campbell, and the 3rd Infantry out of Fort Benning.

Jason served in Mosul before returning to America, where he changed Duty-Stations to Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey. Here, Jason took on a research and development role. He says, “Our main function was to develop procedures for our EOD Soldiers in the field. Any new Military equipment was designed, tested and developed including unmanned ground vehicles.”

Jason was soon deployed back to Afghanistan to do counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism and counter-IED tactics. He was in our nation’s front line on terrorism: small cells of highly trained, passionately committed investigators, analysts, linguists, tactics experts, and other specialists from dozens of U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies, uniting together in the line of fire – far away from home. When it comes to investigating terrorism, they do it all: chase down leads, gather evidence, detain suspects, provide security for special events, conduct training, collect and share intelligence, and respond to threats and incidents at a moment’s notice. As Jason puts it: “We eliminate the bad guys…”

When Jason returned to the U.S., he was sent out to different conferences to talk about his experiences overseas. He then went to Korea for a year assigned as a First Sergeant in the only Army EOD unit in Korea. His responsibilities included supporting NATO forces on the peninsula. His organization supported the US Secret Service and State Department assisting with the protection of V.I.P.’s. He trained, led the Company, mentored the team leaders and made sure they were prepared to go out on their missions to support full spectrum EOD operations.

Jason returned to Fort Belvoir in Virginia and supported the Washington D.C. Capitol region, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and the DoD’s Secret Service missions. He then went to Fort Lee to assist with the further development of EOD. He assisted with doctrine and equipment development – and retired in 2003 after a stellar and dangerous Military career, in service of his country.

Jason is married to his beautiful wife, Melinda and they have two wonderful children, Rian and Lucus. He decided to become a Real Estate agent because he wanted to help guide and mentor fellow Military members and their families in finding homes, since it was always a challenge for him. It was a natural progression for him.

Jason’s areas of service in Northern Virginia are Woodbridge, Fairfax Station, Fort Belvoir, Mclean, Springfield, Stafford, and Vienna.

U.S. House Passes Appropriations Package Cracking Down on Animal Cruelty, Trophy Hunting of Threatened Species

House approves Interior and Agriculture spending bills free of anti-animal riders, bars horse slaughter plants from operating, directs USDA to restore database

Without enforcement, our laws are nothing but words.”

— Holly Gann, director of federal affairs at Animal Wellness Action

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, June 25, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The passage of a multi-agency spending bill that includes funding for the Agriculture, Interior, and Justice departments improved substantially after lawmakers passed three pro-animal amendments on the floor that upgrade enforcement of anti-cruelty laws and strengthen protections for foreign-listed species under the Endangered Species Act. Those provisions strengthened an already strong bill that came out of their committees with a number of other pro-animal provisions.

“Congress has made great strides to improve our animal welfare laws and rid this country of heartless cruelty toward animals, yet there are currently insufficient resources to ensure that these laws are adequately enforced,” said Congresswoman Haley Stevens, who led the fight to pass an amendment on the CJS spending bill to upgrade anti-cruelty enforcement.

Her amendment, which passed by a vote of 381-50, instructs the Department of Justice to use $2 million from the Legal Activities account to enforce animal welfare crimes, and was cosponsored by Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Joe Neguse (D-CO), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Ben McAdams (D-UT), Peter King (R-NY), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), and Cindy Axne (D-IA). The DOJ and USDA are obligated to enforce federal anti-cruelty laws – including the federal animal fighting laws, the Horse Protection Act, the Crush Video law, and the Animal Welfare Act– and a lack of vigorous enforcement puts vulnerable animals and communities at risk.

A separate amendment, which passed by a voice vote on the Agriculture spending bill, provides $1 million for the enforcement of the animal fighting law through the USDA’s Office of Inspector General. “I was honored to lead this bipartisan, commonsense amendment to secure funds for USDA investigations of animal fighting," said Congressman Joe Neguse, who offered the amendment. “Enforcement by USDA’s Office of the Inspector General (OIG), which is responsible for investigating these crimes, has badly lagged.”

That amendment was cosponsored by Peter King (R-NY), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Ben McAdams (D-UT), Madeleine Dean (D-PA), Steve Cohen (D-TN), and Ron Estes (R-KS). The Congress has upgraded the federal law against animal fighting (7 U.S.C. § 2156 and 18 U.S.C. § 49) five times in the last two decades, and this amendment signals to USDA that it should aggressively crack down on dogfighting and cockfighting, including in the U.S. territories.

A third amendment, led by Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) and backed by Jared Huffman (D-CA), Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), and Ted Lieu (D-CA), bars Interior Department funding for imports of sport-hunted elephant and lion trophies from Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. “These magnificent creatures are on the verge of extinction,” said Congressman Vern Buchanan, whose amendment passed by a vote of 239 – 193. “The last thing we should be doing is making it easy to slaughter these animals and bring their stuffed heads back into the U.S. as “trophies. Once a species is extinct it’s gone forever.”

“Without enforcement, our laws are nothing but words,” said Holly Gann, director of federal affairs at Animal Wellness Foundation. “The United States Department of Agriculture must vigorously enforce the animal fighting law, and we encourage the Department of Justice to establish an Animal Cruelty Crimes unit with personnel focused solely on these issues to allow for efficient and effective enforcement.”

AWA also applauded a provision, included by the Agriculture Appropriations subcommittee, to restore a searchable database that include Animal Welfare Act inspection reports and Horse Protection Act violation notices.

Unlike prior Interior spending bills, there are no anti-environmental riders related to wolves or predator killing in Alaska. The agriculture bill contains a number of other pro-animal provisions, including a ban on USDA spending to inspect any U.S.-based horse slaughter plants. There is some confusing language on the management of wild horses, and Animal Wellness will be closely examining that issue as the focus on these spending measures turns to the Senate.
The passage of the pro-animal floor amendments comes on the heels of the announcement made earlier this week by Animal Wellness Action and the Animal Wellness Foundation regarding the establishment of the Animal Wellness National Law Enforcement Council (NLEC) co-chaired by former Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson, and former Oregon District Attorney Josh Marquis.

The Animal Wellness Foundation (Foundation) is a Los Angeles-based private charitable organization with a mission of helping animals by making veterinary care available to everyone with a pet, regardless of economic ability. We organize rescue efforts and medical services for dogs and cats in need and help homeless pets find a loving caregiver. We are advocates for getting veterinarians to the front lines of the animal welfare movement; promoting responsible pet ownership; and vaccinating animals against infectious diseases such as distemper. We also support policies that prevent animal cruelty and that alleviate suffering. We believe helping animals helps us all.

Animal Wellness Action (Action) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(4) organization with a mission of helping animals by promoting legal standards forbidding cruelty. We champion causes that alleviate the suffering of companion animals, farm animals, and wildlife. We advocate for policies to stop dogfighting and cockfighting and other forms of malicious cruelty and to confront factory farming and other systemic forms of animal exploitation. To prevent cruelty, we promote enacting good public policies and we work to enforce those policies. To enact good laws, we must elect good lawmakers, and that’s why we remind voters which candidates care about our issues and which ones don’t. We believe helping animals helps us all.

Eclipse total del Sol July 2, 2019

El cielo se oscurece por completo unos cuantos minutos, la temperatura baja, los animales se esconden como si fuesen a dormir–marcando así la totalidad.

Even the tiniest sliver of a crescent sun peeking out from behind the moon emits enough light to scorch your eyes”

— Ralph Chou, professor University of Waterloo in Canada

In addition to one of the first cultures mound-building cultures, our tour group will also visit the site of one of the last of the mound-building cultures; the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians. The Natchez’s village was destroyed by the French in 1730.

Another archaeological discovery we will visit is the Civil War Gunboat USS Cairo. Sunk in 1862, it was raised in 1964. The reassembled gunboat is displayed at the Vicksburg Military Park and is the only Civil War river gunboat in existence.
