MEC Ketso Makume leads candle-light and prayer session for GBV victims, 22 Sept

In response to the GBV and women-killing crisis that South Africa is facing, MEC Ketso Makume will lead the candle-light and prayer session where the employees from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, as well as the Provincial Treasury will gather under one roof on Tuesday, 22 September 2026 at Naval Hill--Environmental Center.

The purpose of the session is aimed at lighting candles and pray in memory of those who lost their lives, encourage both men and women to break the silence, support the victims and take a stand against the abuse and killing of women.

Wearing black with a touch of purple by the employees symbolizes mourning, remembrance, and a united call to end violence against women and girls.
